Xwayland supports relative motion events from the Wayland compositor via the relative-pointer protocol, and converts those to the absolute range in device units for raw events. Some X11 clients however wrongly assume relative values in the axis values even for devices explicitly labeled as absolute. While this is a bug in the client, such applications would work fine in plain Xorg but not with Xwayland. To avoid that issue, use the relative values for raw events without conversion, so that such application continue to work in Xwayland. X Server
The X server accepts requests from client applications to create windows, which are (normally rectangular) "virtual screens" that the client program can draw into.
Windows are then composed on the actual screen by the X server (or by a separate composite manager) as directed by the window manager, which usually communicates with the user via graphical controls such as buttons and draggable titlebars and borders.
